All Volunteers

All coaches and assistant coaches are required to complete a police check which is initiated by completing a form based on your permanent residence. Volunteers who live in the City of Ottawa need to complete an Ottawa Police Services form, all other volunteers need to complete an OPP form. Both forms can be found here.

UPDATED – APRIL 15, 2017

The 2017 Soccer School program will run for 10 weeks from Tuesday May 23 to Thursday July 27. As always, we are in need of coaches. At this age, it is most important to find coaches who have some understanding of soccer, have patience with young children and are committed to keeping them engaged for 45 minutes to an hour twice per week. Typically coaches are parents of children in the program, but we often have teenagers who enjoy soccer and helping out with young children. We have also had other relatives (aunts, uncles and grandparents) help out. Regardless of who you are, we will always accept willing volunteers as coaches, assistant coaches and managers. Don’t forget that the program will be held at the Civitan Fields in Almonte every Tuesday and Thursday night (except when there is an auction at the Civitan). The time for U4 children will be from 6 to 6:45 pm while the U5 and U6 program will be from 6 to 7 pm.

A few important notes:

  • Age groups are as follows:
Group Born in
U4 2015
U5 2014
U6 2013
  • All volunteers (Coach, Assistant coach, Manager, Assistant to Soccer School Program Coordinator) must have a valid Police ‘Vulnerable Sector Check’ that is less than 2 years old. If you need to get a Vulnerable Sector Check, the forms are available here. The completed Vulnerable Sector Check must be accompanied by a letter from the Almonte Soccer Club found. The completed form and letter must be submitted with 2 pieces of photo identification (Driver’s Licence, Passport or Birth Certificate, not Health Card or SIN Card) to the OPP in Carleton Place.
  • The completed Vulnerable Sector Check must be returned the Soccer School Coordinator before the start of the season.
  • ASC is hosting an Active Start coaches clinic on April 29th 2017 (registration required) and an orientation session for all active or prospective Soccer School volunteers on May 16, 2017.
  • By the way, if you have youth (high-school-aged) children, friends or relatives who might be interested, please contact me or get them to contact me. Helping out with Soccer School is a great way to get those all-important volunteer hours.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Mark at or phone at 613 256-0137 (evenings).
